Why the aluminum doors are coming to Perth
Perth’s aluminium door grilles are about to get their final touches in, with the Perth City Council having approved a $1 million grant to the Perth Design Office to develop the design.
The grant comes after Perth Design Director Alex Ewing said he was happy with the progress being made and was confident the project could be completed by June 2020.
“I’ve been very pleased with the project’s progress and it’s really exciting to see what the Perth designers have come up with,” Mr Ewing told the ABC.
“We’ll be getting the door panels from the company, and I’m sure we’ll get some really good work done.”
The Perth Design office has been working on designing a series of doors that will be used in Perth’s new public housing developments, including the new Perth City Mission and the new new Perth Community Housing, as well as a new building to replace the former Community Housing site.
It is hoped that the project will allow for more residential use of the area around the new apartments.
The new building will be built to the same design as the old Community Housing building, which has been demolished and is being rebuilt.
The city council has also approved a new $100,000 grant to build a $20,000 steel-frame door in the new building.
It was revealed last year that the new Community Housing facility would be demolished and rebuilt into a residential complex, which is due to open next year.
