Which of the new Bayern Munich players should we be watching on Saturday?
The Bavarians are looking to the future with the arrival of their new star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The 21-year-old has been one of the most talked about signings of the summer, and while he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations yet, he has been a massive contributor for Bayern so far.
Gundogan has played for three different Bundesliga clubs, but has scored four goals in 12 appearances so far for the Bavarians.
The German international has scored twice and provided three assists in 14 Bundesliga games.
He has been able to get on the scoresheet in a couple of of games as well.
On Saturday, Gundogan will be hoping to extend his scoring streak to 10 games with his first goal for the club in their 2-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
He scored on his first Bundesliga start on January 25th, and scored a brace in a 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
The young German has also been involved in some key moments for Bayern.
In early January, he was involved in a 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen that saw his team concede a late equalizer in a Champions League tie.
In between, Gundgan has been on the field for both of the club’s two wins against Eindhoven, scoring a goal and assisting two.
That match against the Belgian side saw the German score a brace, while his goal and assist helped Eindhhoven to a 3-2 victory.
On January 21, he scored twice in a 2-1 victory against Hamburg, giving the Bavarian team a 1.
In that game, he also contributed two assists.
The youngster has been doing very well for the young Bavarians, scoring five goals and providing three assists so far in 2016.
He was also able to lead the team with a goal in their 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkung.
It’s difficult to get too excited about Gundogan, as he’s yet to have a major impact in his first full Bundesliga season.
However, he should give Bayern a much-needed boost as they prepare for the 2018/19 season.
