BMWs new aluminium doors: ‘They’re pretty amazing’

BMWs first aluminum doors, which are set to debut later this year, are more than just a visual upgrade for the Bavarian automaker.

They will also be the company’s most powerful yet.

The doors are designed to help the BMW Z4 achieve a more powerful driving experience.

“When we started designing the aluminium doors, we didn’t know that we were going to have them reach up to 600bhp,” BMW chief engineer Tobias Müller told The Local.

“But it turned out that that was the maximum that we could get out of them.”

The new doors have a lower centre of gravity, meaning the BMW will be able to drive harder without compromising on the amount of torque that the car can produce.

This is due to the design of the doors themselves, which have a longer centre section, meaning that they need to be designed to maximise the available grip.

“The idea is that the aluminium door has a shorter centre section to get the greatest possible grip on the road, while still maintaining the same amount of mass,” Müller said.

The new BMW Z3 E30 Z4 aluminium doors will be on display at the Nürburgring Nordschleife from March 27 to April 2.

BMWs next car, the Z4, is set to go on sale in the UK next year, but the company is also planning to roll out a range of new models to the UK in the next year.

The UK’s biggest automaker will have its own range of premium premium models available in the second half of 2018, including a new model to replace the outgoing BMW X5 E30, a sportier model which is set for a debut in 2019.
