How to upgrade your Mazda Miata with aluminum doors
Aluminum doors can help reduce CO2 emissions from your car, according to a new report from the US auto giant.
As you’d expect, the study’s authors found that a simple change to the design of the aluminum doors could reduce the amount of CO2 your car produces.
Alignment with the road surface could also help.
The researchers found that the change to a standard aluminum door with a track of around 30 degrees to the centerline would produce the same amount of greenhouse gas as if the door were a standard door with no track, which would reduce the number of emissions.
That would make the aluminum door an even better choice for a car with the best combination of features, said the report.
The study was led by researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder, University of Michigan, and the University at Buffalo.
